About

I am a Doctor of Medicine student at the University of Sydney, based at Westmead Clinical School. Before commencing medicine, I completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Sydney with majors in Data Science and Genetics & Genomics.

My quantitative background preceded medicine. Prior to commencing the MD, I worked at AstraZeneca applying statistical and computational methods to real-world healthcare data across multiple therapeutic areas. The work gave me practical experience with the strengths and limitations of routinely collected health data and reinforced the importance of understanding how data are generated before deciding how they should be analysed.

I now want to apply that background to clinically useful questions in surgery. My developing research interests are focused on urology, particularly urological oncology and robotic and minimally invasive surgery. I hope to pursue a future career as an academic surgeon.

Alongside medicine, I work as a Casual Academic in the University of Sydney’s School of Mathematics and Statistics, teaching undergraduate data science and statistics. Teaching remains an important part of my academic work and has led to broader interests in curriculum development, educational scholarship and Students-as-Partners initiatives.

I am also a Surgical Research Scholar with RISE, where I have been matched to a surgical mentor and a research project aligned with urology. Over time, I would like to help strengthen pathways into research during medical school and the prevocational years, giving students and junior medical officers opportunities to contribute meaningfully while developing the skills needed for academic practice.
